Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC) Insurance will pay for a medical flight, attending doctor, nurse and other crucial health care provider should you be critically injured or so ill that you can not come home (or go to an adequate medical institution) on a commercial passenger flight. But the need for this type of service is rare because after emergency treatment is given to badly injured travelers, they can usually go home on a commercial flight after a week or two of close monitoring in a hospital. Extremely dangerous sports like scuba diving are often excluded in the coverage of MEDEVAC. Before you travel, take the time to read your policy so there will be no surprises later on.
